add new user First log in as root. Then: [ useradd user1 ] adds new user named user1 Then; [ passwd user1 ] gets you to a prompt asking for the new password for user1. Type in the password you want and hit enter, then the system will ask you to confirm the password, and you will be scolded if you enter a lame password; but the system will let you go ahead and enter a weak password, so be careful. This works on Red Hat 7.3. However know that it is just the systems defaults that are given to the new user. The new user gets a home directory and can run programs; you can do this on the command line. Requires root privilages to add a new user. |
